Cambodia on Thursday presented the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) to hundreds of university teachers and students here to celebrate the LMC Week 2019. Before the presentation, a short video, featuring lifestyles and traditions of residents along the Lancang-Mekong river as well as LMC activities, was screened. The LMC consists of six countries, namely China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam.

Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai marked the third anniversary of Mekong-Lancang Cooperation (MLC) by saying the member states’ tireless efforts were testimony to the “cordial and warm relationship that runs deep in the fabric of our societies”. In his statement, Don said it has been his pleasure to witness the achievements of the cooperation, which have far exceeded expectations since Thailand’s first proposal for its establishment in 2012.

The Diplomatic Academy of Việt Nam and the Chinese Embassy co-organised a seminar on the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation (MLC) and related regional collaboration opportunities in Hà Nội on Monday. The seminar, which formed part of activities in response to the MLC week in late March each year, attracted over 50 delegates from the China Institute of International Studies, Việt Nam’s ministries, sectors and research institutes, and media agencies from both countries.

The 17th trilateral-bilateral ministerial meeting on drug control cooperation between Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia took place in Vientiane on December 6. The event creates a good chance for the three countries to review their past cooperation and learn from the experience in the implementation of the trilateral joint statement on drug prevention adopted at the previous meeting, as well as map out orientations and plans for the time ahead, said Lao Deputy Minister of Public Security Lt. Gn. Somvang Thammasith, who is also head of the Lao steering committee for drug control, combat, and prevention.
